Confluence Philanthropy is a non-profit, membership-based association of foundations, high net worth investors and their investment advisors who collaborate in Mission-Related Investing (MRI), the process of integrating investment strategy with social and/or environmental goals. Position Overview
The Special Projects Manager is a key position with significant program development and management, analytical, research, and communication responsibility. She/He/They will work independently and with a sense of agency and urgency around the multi-faceted nature of this exciting position. Critical to our effective program implementation, you will: work with the program directors to create content for monthly learning and networking events; manage special projects and support our working groups; ensure the team are effectively tracking important information about our member’s interests, areas of expertise, and their engagement.

Reports to: Member Relations Director
Compensation: $70,000-$80,000, with full health, dental, and retirement benefits
Location: New York, NY (Once COVID restrictions have been lifted, this position will be expected to work Monday through Friday in the Confluence Philanthropy office in Manhattan).
Hours: Work hours are mostly regular business hours, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with some weekends and evenings particularly around our major conferences. Hours are shorter in the summer months.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Program Management and Development: You will deepen the quality of our programming and enrich the membership experience, through your support of our working groups and special projects. Working with the program team, you will help create monthly learning and networking events. You will also help track and report on member interests and participation. Specific program areas include:
- Climate Solutions Collaborative
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Program
- Active Owners Initiative
• Event Planning: Playing a leadership role in developing content and recruiting speakers for Confluence events (i.e., Climate Solutions Summit and Practitioner’s Gathering).
• Membership Tracking and Research: Support the Program Team in collecting key membership data (i.e., foundations divested; ESG investing; Net zero commitments; racial equity commitments), as well as industry trends.
• Technical Input: Support the program team to curate content for Confluence media channels across multiple program areas, drafting blogs, e-news, reports, and other communication materials as needed.
• Fundraising and Grant writing: Collect evaluation data that demonstrates program value statistical and qualitative
• Event Coordination: Assist with program planning and execution of online and in-person educational events. Responsible for coordinating speakers and preparing materials. • Data Management and Analysis: Compile and analyze data related to events and member engagement. Assist with collection and presentation of organizational measures and outcomes. Assist with tracking and reporting of sensitive member data in CRM.
Qualifications:
• Graduate degree in non-profit management, communications, or graduate experience equivalent required, MBA preferred.
• Strong interest in environmental and social investing, and the path to a new economy. • Fundraising and grant writing experience, highly valued.
• Prior event and conference organizing experience, a strong plus.
• Highly organized, efficient, and self-directed work style
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required
• Ability to perform under pressure, with patience and a sense of humor • Skilled at utilizing CRM/Salesforce systems and know the importance of tracking member engagement to delivering high quality membership services and programming • A high level of discretion for both professional and personal affairs.
