What is the objective of the Intensives?
C2C’s goal is for our Investor Members (foundations and family offices) to invest in the solutions that accelerate the transition to a low-carbon and just economy. The objective of the Net Zero Intensives is to provide a deep learning experience that helps our Investor Members, in conjunction with their Investment Advisor (CFO/CIO, OCIO, or an Investment Committee Member) to explore the key questions that obstruct the commitment to a Net Zero investment strategy in a safe peer-to-peer environment.
Am I required to become a signatory to Net Zero Asset Owners Alliance or make a public commitment after attending the Intensive?
It is our hope that all Confluence Members will commit to Net Zero investing with a public announcement and report on their progress, and that the Intensives will provide the information that helps you to do so. However, there is no requirement to join NZAOA or make a commitment.
Would attending the Intensive be helpful if we are already in the process of creating a new investment policy statement?
Yes. The Net Zero Intensive will cover a range of topics. Some of the information provided might help shape the IPS. The Intensives will also likely cover information such as reporting frameworks and requirements, which may inform your decision to make your commitment public or to sign on to a platform.
Would attending the Intensive be helpful if we are at the very begin of investigating whether or not Net Zero makes sense for our organization?
Yes. The Net Zero Intensive is intended to help attendees learn more about how to make this decision. Given the significant time commitment, we encourage attendees to be seriously considering Net Zero investing as a strategy.
Will additional support be made available after the Intensive?
As new information becomes available, we will continue to enhance the resource library of articles, reports, sample materials, etc. to build knowledge and offer guidance on the topics covered during the Intensive. In addition, we will host follow up discussion groups for resource sharing, peer problem-solve, etc. There will also be two Advisor-Only follow-up virtual meetings.
Why is registration capped at 15 organizations?
These are designed as intimate settings to foster meaningful participation and candid dialogue between peers. We do not believe that can be achieved with a larger group.
Who can attend as part of an organization?
This event is for Confluence Investor Member in good standing. Their team must include two individuals: a key decision-maker within the organization and an investment professional within or outside the organization (i.e., an investment committee member, CFO/CIO, Investment Director, OCIO, Advisory Consultant). A third person within the organization can also attend as part of the team.
What if a member of our team needs to step out for a portion of the meeting?
There will be short breaks built into the agenda, allowing attendees to step away to make a quick phone call, answer emails, etc. Lunch will also be an unstructured time for networking. However, all participants are expected to be present for the presentations and conversations. This is a small group, so having everyone involved is important. Please identify individuals that are committing to the full one and a half days.
What if no one from our investment team can attend?
From those that have been on this journey, we’ve repeatedly heard how critical it is for a willing and engaged investment professional to be part of the process. This is why we are requiring an investment professional to be part of the team. There is wide flexibility regarding that person’s role – potentially an investment or financial officer or manager on staff, member of the investment committee, part of your advisory firm, or an outside consultant.
Do I have to cover the costs of our outside investment advisor’s registration fee?
As the lead, we are asking you to commit that each attendee’s registration fee will be provided to Confluence, so our costs are covered. Any arrangements beyond that are up to you. We are happy to process everyone individually or together. Please note, we must receive the individual’s registration payment before the Intensive in order for them to attend.
When will the agenda be available?
The Planning Committee identified the topics, which are pathways and high impact sectors for meeting the Paris goals, frameworks and reporting requirements, corporate engagement strategies, carbon credits/offsets, and equity-based outcomes. The speakers and more detailed agenda will be provided on a rolling basis.
When is the deadline to register?
The registration deadline is ten business days prior to the start of the Intensive (January 18th for the February Intensive). Space is limited to 30 participants, so we encourage you to register early.
Where will the Intensives be held?
The East Coast Net Zero Intensive is being held at member’s office, south of midtown Manhattan within walking distance of multiple subway lines. The exact location will be provided upon registration.
Can I get a refund?
We offer refunds, minus applicable administrative costs, until the registration deadline of January 18th.
