Michael Francisco-McGuire

Chief External Officer

As Chief External Officer, Michael leads Confluence’s communications, development, event planning functions, and long-term partnerships. In 2020 he joined as our first COO and since then Confluence had grown significantly. In 2023 Michael adopted another new position as our first Chief External Officer, to collaborate more deeply with our incredible community of members.

Michael joined Confluence Philanthropy with over 20 years of experience in non-profit operations, events, fundraising, and cross-sector partnership building.

Michael is deeply committed to advancing racial justice, fighting climate change, and working at their intersection. He is passionate about mission-aligned investing and its impact on some of the biggest issues of our time.

Before Confluence, Michael served as Managing Director of Operations at iMentor, a nonprofit dedicated to mentoring students from low-income communities. He built the operational infrastructure needed to grow from 60 employees in NY to over 150 across the USA. Previously, Michael was one of the first employees of The Climate Group, a global network of business, government, and non-profit organizations dedicated to expanding the clean energy economy. Initially responsible for member services, fundraising, and events, Michael helped The Climate Group grow to 150 employees across 5 continents, serving thousands of members. Initially as Head of Global Partnerships, then as Director of Operations, USA, he continued to implement both regional and international infrastructure that supported The Climate Group’s expansion and impact.

Michael holds an M.A. in Public Administration from New York University and is a dedicated father of two young children.
