Mark Bateman, Director of ESG & SRI Research, Aperio Group

Mark Bateman is the head of values-aligned research at Aperio. Mark helped create Aperio’s approach to customizing values-aligned portfolios. With over 30 years of experience in the ESG industry, he started his career at the Investor Responsibility Research Center (IRRC), where he held various roles, including research analyst on military and political issues, director of the Environmental Information Service, and Vice President of Research and Operations. During that time, he served on the original steering committee of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), helping to develop standards for sustainability disclosure. Prior to Aperio, he also served as the Director of Research for IW Financial.
