Katy Kienitz

Deputy Director

Katy is the Deputy Director at Confluence Philanthropy. For over 15 years, she has driven programmatic, technology, and operational growth at mission-based organizations where she thrives at taking on the challenges unique to the nonprofit sector. In her most recent role as the COO of Project Sunshine, Katy led organization-wide initiatives to nearly double their impact from serving 150,000 children each year to 280,000 annually. In prior roles, Katy also led corporate partnership strategies with Fortune 500 companies making an impact in their local and global communities with causes that reflected company values.

Katy began her career in the Peace Corps working on girls’ education and gender equity projects in Togo, West Africa. She is passionate about women's rights and is particularly interested in the ways that climate change is impacting women and girls globally. She sits on the board of Pathways Togo, a nonprofit supporting high-achieving girls in Togo to continue and complete their education. Katy holds a B.A. in Government and Italian Language studies from The University of Texas at Austin. She now lives in Brooklyn, New York with her husband and daughter.
