Dan Chu

Dan is the Executive Director of the Sierra Club Foundation since 2016.  SCF funds efforts to address the climate crisis, protect land, waters and wildlife, get people outdoors in nature and advance environmental justice as the primary fiscal sponsor for the Sierra Club’s charitable programs. SCF also provides impact investments to advance climate solutions and social justice ventures as part of its aspiration to help accelerate the shift of trillions from an extractive economy to an economy that is sustainable and just for all.

Dan joined the Sierra Club in 2013 as the National Director of the Sierra Club’s Our Wild America campaign, from his previous role as the Vice President for regional and affiliate programs at the National Wildlife Federation.  Dan started his environmental advocacy career as a door-to-door canvasser in Colorado. He is a returned Peace Corps Panama agroforestry volunteer and holds a Master’s of Science from the University of Colorado and a Bachelor’s of Science from Michigan State University.  Dan resides in the East Bay area in Northern California.
